Science

The science department at CCHS provides a foundation in the scientific disciplines and scientific processes that challenge the students at various levels. A wide range of electives are offered to provide opportunities to pursue special interests and to encourage in-depth study. The department aims to promote an appreciation for life long learning, a respect for humankind, and an understanding of our changing world. All year long science courses are laboratory oriented and encourage critical thinking.

Three years of science are required for graduation. A fourth year is strongly recommended. Many students complete more than four science courses before graduation. Participation in Science Olympiad offers additional opportunities to enhance content and skills in science, technology, and engineering. The department’s goal is to increase the students’ scientific literacy such that the student will become a more informed, responsible citizen of the world.
