Recommended Gear for Runners
1) Running shoes for training:
- Typically, they will last 3-4 months or 350-450 miles.
- Recommend shopping local with one of our running specialty stores.
- Both Charlotte Running Company and Omega sports have a long history of supporting Charlotte Catholic Cross country. Charlotte Running Company is offers and can specially order cross-country spikes. Please ensure to tell them you are an athlete from CCHS to receive your discount. The best shoes are the ones you find the most comfortable.
2) Spikes - highly encouraged for Varsity runners, optional for JV, specialty stores can advise.
3) Comfortable pair of running shorts - Not basketball shorts.
4) Sports bras for ladies (specialty running stores can help with fitting)
5) A watch - GPS is not necessary. No phones.
6) Running hat - Incredibly helpful for rainy days.
7) Water bottle
8) Towel - Great for rainy days and to put on your car seats to absorb sweat.
Nice to have:
1) NCMilesplit https://nc.milesplit.com - all race results and rankings are posted here along with all your PRs and competitors' times. You can create an account for free. To get access to more information, you have to purchase an account. Coaches have access in case you have questions.
2) Glide - specialty running stores have this or whatever your preference is for chaffing.
3) Foam Roller or Stick - 100% optional but useful to help with stretching
4) Injured? Recommended TruMotion Therapy, Dr Clay Sankey if you have a prolonged injury requiring further care. He is located close to school, takes insurance, you can book online and he works alot with runners. https://www.trumotiontherapy.com
5) Running log - Strava for example. Nice way to record your miles and how you felt each day to track your progress.
