Student Registration Worksheet Instructions

Students should use this form to help plan for their 2026-2027 courses based on department placement standards and their expectations for course level placement.

Students are encouraged to have conversations about course level placements and appeals prior to student/counselor meetings. Teachers will take a few minutes in class to talk about the specifics of placement in next year’s course in their department.

Students should check the course they believe they should be placed into, based on department standards and prerequisites in the Curriculum Guide. Science and Language sections are write-in, depending on the grade level.

Checklist/Steps:

  • Students are given a hard copy of the Worksheet.
  • Teachers review the curriculum guide requirements for next year’s courses
  • Students will indicate classes they will be recommended for based on the curriculum guide
    • If students want to advocate for another class, they will indicate on the form.
    • Students should meet with the teachers to get feedback and comments about the requirements and what can improve/ next steps, if a different level is desired.
    • This is not an official appeal. This is a planning/feedback tool.
  • Students take the form home and parents can provide feedback (back side)
  • Students will bring this form with them to the registration meeting with the counselor.

***These steps encourage engagement with teachers regarding course placement and inform and empower families about their students' academic course progression.***

Students should review the elective choices for their grade level and should list electives they are interested in on the back of the form.

AP courses require a student application. AP Applications can be found on the Counseling page of the CCHS Website.
